Ryder Robison

Ryder Robison is an artist based out of New York. I heard about him through the Ace Hotel in New York because the hotel was putting up local artists for their upcoming new york post. I saw some of his work and was sold on him instantly. He is an insane drawer and the process he goes through makes it really unique and cool. And, he is a super nice guy.
I e-mailed him and asked him for some pieces he had on his website and after talking, we both felt it would be best for him to make me a custom piece. Well, i just got it today and he absolutely nailed it. It looks great. Enough talk, here it is....

March Madness

With the Sweet Sixteen being one day away I was thinking about the 1 player I would've loved to have seen play in college. The answer for me is simple : Pistol Pete Maravich. The guy was so ahead of his time with his And 1 mixtape type moves and he could shoot like Byrd. And, he looked cool doing it with his high top canvas shoes and his infamous socks.
One crazy stat that just came to me was that he averaged 44.2 points per game at LSU.       Obviously, averaging that much in college is insane but there wasn't even a 3 point line back then. S0, his coach did some research and went back to every game and noted where he shot it from on each and every shot. With this research, the coach noted that he made roughly 13 3's a game so in today's world, he would have averaged 57 points per game. INSANE!
So, here are some pics and videos of inspiration of the legend.

Wednesdays in Los Angeles

I think Wednesday is slowly becoming the new Saturday. There is always weekly parties and everyone seems to come out even though it's the middle of the week. I don't mind one bit....
But, with all these parties, not sure which one to go to.

Dan Auerbach @ El Rey

Mr. Auerbach played at the el rey on Saturday night and it was really good. The songs on his debut album speak for themselves and it was nice to go to a show that wasn't 3 hours long. Maybe I am just getting old or something but I thought the show was great for that reason alone.
My favorite part of the show was when they came out to "Troube Weighs a Ton" and they were harmonizing as if they were in Crosby, Stills and Nash or something. Whatever the case, it was great. And THIS SONG live, was also really good.

Bardot

Started by Ana Calderon and CC Sheffield, Bardot has become a pretty fun place to go on a Wednesday night and boogie down. However, I have had some bad luck with their Prince look-a-like for a door guy. He needs to remember that he is a door man. They have weekly DJ's such as Devendra Barnhart, Karen O, Brett from Flight of the Conchords, Aziz Ansari, and countless other good peeps.
Most know it for hosting a night with Ryan Gosling being the DJ but Wednesday s the best night to go by far.

Anyways, this week seems to be pretty solid as well.....

Adam Pendleton

After much begging and pleading with my mom, I got her to help me pay off this piece I planned on buying. The kind folks at Roberts and Tilton gave me a great deal on this so I couldn't pass it up. I expect great things from this young artist so be on the lookout for him.

thanks mom :)

Andrew Bird @ The Orpheum

I saw Mr. Bird play at the Orpheum for the 2nd time and it is with great regret that I feel like I saw the exact same show a year ago. I understand Andrew's schtick is to a lot of samples and whistling but if he took it down a couple notches, I think it would've been a little more enjoyable. Til next year.....
