Coachella

This should be epic. Morrissey, Paul McCartney, The Killers, Amy Winehouse, and on and on. The bands I am most excited to see are Booker T, Beirut (see last post), Dr. Dog, Band of Horses, Anthony and the Johnsons. This should be a great year for Coachella.

Chromeo DJ Set

Chromeo played at the Key Club to a Sold Out crowd so it was almost impossible to get tickets to see them. The next best thing was going to their DJ set at the Roxy. Sadly, it was not what I thought it was going to be. I anticipated them spinning some good jams such as Hall & Oates and other good classic tunes. But, it was more or less a techno fest with 14 year olds.
This was actually the highlite of my night. Seeing this dude in a Silk, Striped, and Zebra printed shirt. I was actually in shock when I first saw this magnificent piece of clothing. I kept thinking about the process of him buying the shirt. He goes to the store, asks the clerk if the new zebra silk shirt has arrived or does he special order it? Or, did he lose a bet and his friends made him wear this? I'm hoping for the latter as this is no joking matter. Just look at it! My god, I'm still speechless.

Antique Shopping in Colorado

I got some pretty amazing stuff while I was in Colorado. I will never forget doing some antique shopping with my grandfather aka "the Silver Fox." Here are the things I bought that I consider pretty unique.

1930's student learning kit
1960's poster
christmas gift for a friend
vintage flashlight
old milk crate
50's banker chair

Currently Obsessed With...

The Wire. This show is so tight. Words can't do this show justice. The dialogue, The setting, the cast, and on and on it goes. This show is just spot on. I feel like this is how it truly is out there.
I have almost finished the entire first season in 1 day. For Christmas my buddy got me the box set and I am forever grateful.

EBAY Find of the Day

This is awesome. It's apparently from an old ship at the beginning of the 20th century. I have been looking for a good bench and this might be the one. The bench is only at $3.25 right now.
I got inspiration from a cool blog called PLTDME which is the voice of Rogues Gallery.

Here is the link to look, but don't bid or I will find you and hunt you down.

Design NOT Within Reach

I found this cool door stop at Design Within Reach and was tempted to buy it but held off because I thought $98 was a little steep for a ball of rope basically. Then, I did a little research and found another website that had the exact same one...for MUCH less.
This really angered me. Does DWR think they are selling something so obscure that they can hike the prices this high. Is this a limited edition rope ball? I doubt it.
If you like this, please go to CS Post and buy one for yourself, at the cost it should be.

Here are the links to compare :

Pagosa Springs, Colorado

I have been going to Pagosa Springs, Colorado ever since I was a little tike. My grandfather has always had a cabin here and about 5 years ago he built a new place here so I decided to start 2009 off right and flew to hang with my grandfather. I thought it was going to be a low key trip but we did a lot of great things in a short amount of time. We gambled, antique shopped (pics soon to follow), ate great food, and watched some good football. Overall, great times with great people.
There will also be a polaroid post for this trip....stay tuned!
*Another new years resolution that just came to mind is to spend more time with family and not let my job run my life.

New Years Eve

Let me start off by saying I hate new years eve parties and such. It's always a let down and quite frankly, it's amateur night. I would rather swallow glass than spend 300 dollars at some meathead bar next to......meatheads. So, I went to my friends' house and they had a quiet but great little party at their new house. Instead of showing pics of us, I thought I would show you a couple pics of their new digs.
By the way, a new resolution for me in 2009 is to have put up more posts so get ready. And workout but that won't last.

I loved the vintage movie posters throughout the house

My Christmas Loot

I had a great Christmas this year. I got lots of great stuff and had a blast being home with my family and friends. I'm definitely homesick but ready for the new year. Onward and upward I guess....

my buddy gave me these awesome vintage binoculars
